Maine passed a marriage equality bill this past May, making them the fifth state to do so. However, Proposition 1 has been added to the ballot this year. Much like Proposition 8 in California, Prop 1 is a ban on gay marriage. (If you are unfamiliar with Prop 8, here is a link: http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/California_Proposition_8_(2008) )
Seeing how things turned out in California it will be interesting to see what happens in Maine this November.
